Keel laying for the first Vessel of Tomini Group

The Keel Laying ceremony for MV “TOMINI HARMONY” which is the first vessel of a series of 9 Ultra-max bulk carriers of 64000 DWT ordered by Tomini Shipping and currently under construction at CSI-Jiangsu Shipyard, was conducted on 2nd December 2014.

The colorful ceremony was conducted in accordance with shipyard’s protocol and saw the participation of representatives of the shipowners, the Builders CSI, the Sellers SUMEC and the members of the Classification Society in charge of the supervision: Lloyds’ Register.

This important event marks, like a cornerstone on a building, the initial phase of the assembling process of the blocks and modules conforming the whole body and superstructure of the ship

The Keel Laying is the installation of the first block of the vessel in the place where the whole ship will be erected. It is carefully and perfectly aligned as the same will be taken as a reference for the installation of the rest of the modules conforming the ship.
