Tomini extends 2016 bulker buying spree

Tomini Shipping of the UAE is believed to have snapped up a supramax bulker to continue an aggressive expansion effort.

It has been named as the buyer of the 56,000-dwt Anna Bo (built 2010) from Greek owner Golden Union.

Brokers are placing a price tag of $6.5m on what would be the owner’s sixth second-hand purchase since April.

The price is in line with last done but some way from the $11.4m VesselsValue has against the ship.

Executives at the company had not responded to requests for comment at the time of writing.

Tomini has been resurgent in the sale and purchase market this year with five other purchases worth in excess of $22m in total.

The addition of the Anna Bo would take the company’s all bulker fleet to eight trading ships. It also has a stable to six ultramax newbuildings under construction in China.

Tomini officials decline to comment on individual transactions given clauses in the contracts.

However, they did explain: “With the vast experience Tomini has a shipowner, the company is building up a fleet of dry bulk carriers under the technical management of Tomini Shipping in Dubai and commercial management of Alpina Chartering in Denmark, who is also a financial partner.”
