Tomini swoops for nine

The Dubai-headquartered Pakistani shipowner booked the 64,000-dwt eco-design vessels at China Shipbuilding Industry Corp. the company confirmed.
Tomini did not reveal a price for the swoop however TradeWinds reported last week that Turkey’s Kiran Holding picked up eight ultramax slots at China’s Zhejiang Yangfan Shipyard at $27m apiece.
Delivery of the vessels is scheduled to begin in the middle of 2015, Tomini says.
Tomini has in the past owned 50 bulkers up to capesize and has been in the market for opportunities to return to the sector.
